Fort St. John Hospital Emergency Department Diverted Until Thursday Morning

FORT ST. JOHN, BC — A diversion has been announced for the Fort St John Hospital emergency department.

Northern Health announced at 1:42 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, that the department will be closed between 2:00 p.m. on September 4 and 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, due to “physician coverage issues.”

This is the hospital’s first diversion in September so far, following three closures in August.

People who require life-threatening emergency care are urged to call 112. They can then be taken to the nearest emergency department.

In the meantime, patients who do not require emergency care can schedule an appointment online at Northern Health’s virtual clinic at 1-844-745-7811.
