Broncos win rookie game against Pats





The Swift Current Broncos scored three goals without conceding in the final 5:03 minutes to open their Western Hockey League preseason with an 8-5 victory over the host Regina Pats.

Tyssen Koen saved 39 of 44 shots to give the Broncos the win in a game that featured mainly rookie players.

Local Parker Rondeau led the Broncos with two goals and one assist. Ty Coupland and Aidan Sexsmith also scored twice. Jack Clark and Jayden Oleskiw also scored.

Mathis Paull scored twice for the Pats, followed by singles from Logan Peskett, Corban Almen and Cohan Klassen.

The Broncos finished 3-for-5 on the power play, with Regina scoring twice on a six-man advantage.

The Broncos host the Prince Albert Raiders on Thursday.
