Saskatoon families packed the Nutrien Wonderhub yesterday as it celebrated its 5th anniversary.

The birthday party for the Wonderhub was a free event held on Friday to celebrate the opening of the hub on Spadina Crescent in 2019.

Leah Brodie, Chief Executive Officer at the Wonderhub, sat down with 650 CKOM to share all the fun things the hub had set up for the day.

“We have glitter tattoos, a balloon artist, we have princesses here, lots of crafts and creative space activities,” she said.

“We have dance parties in the concert hall and of course there are also all the wonderful and amazing exhibitions that we always have available.”

The Wonderhub is a non-profit organization that promotes creativity, curiosity and a love of learning in children and their adults.

It offers hands-on exhibitions, programming and outreach.

The hub’s mission is to bring children and families together to create, learn, play and discover without limitations.

Brodie said the Wonderhub is the perfect place to take the kids, no matter the season.

“On a hot day, we’re a great place to be,” she said. “On a cold day and a snowy day we are a great place to be and on a rainy day we are a great place to be too.”

She emphasizes the importance of space for children to learn.

“We are the only children’s museum in Saskatchewan and I think we provide this community with a great place in Saskatoon to take their children,” she said.

Brodie said the summer season is busy as camps are held at the hub throughout the summer.

“Obviously, with Nutrien PlayLand right across the street, we really become a hub of energy and activity and are a really good place for families in the summer,” she said.
