Telus invests million in Victoria, Langford and Oak Bay

Telus has announced that they will invest $25 million in Victoria, Langford and Oak Bay this year to improve wireless connectivity and connect more homes and businesses to their PureFibre network as part of their $17 billion investment to boost their network infrastructure and expand operations throughout British Columbia.

According to them, the investment will stimulate innovation, stimulate economic growth and contribute to a greener future, while connecting families and communities to the 5G and PureFibre networks.

As part of the investments, the Telus Vancouver Island Community Board said they have passed more than $6 million in donations to charities supporting youth since 2007. Last year, they said the council awarded $400,000 to 31 charities working to support youth, 21 health programs and 10 education programs.

“At Telus, we know that a reliable and powerful network is essential to keeping British Columbians connected to the people, information and resources that matter most,” said Darren Entwistle, president of Telus, in a press release. “These investments will ensure our customers continue to benefit from the best network experience in the world, enabling critical generational shifts in healthcare, education, remote working, the environment and our digital economy and societies. Perhaps most importantly, our networks will also bridge digital and socio-economic divides so that every member of our society has the opportunity to reach their full potential.”
