Prime Video’s first original South African film, The Shakedown is a highly entertaining crime comedy set in Cape Town, with endless twists and turns to keep viewers engaged.

Directed by Ari Kruger and co-written by Daniel Zimbler, the film has a winning comedic formula, perhaps honed by the filmmaker’s other projects, such as Tali’s Diary and Suzelle DIY. It also features some of South Africa’s best comedic talent, including Julia Anastasopoulos and David Isaacs.

The film is absurd, daring and occasionally descends into dark atmospheres, but remains light and entertaining.
