Downtown Eastside attack now a murder, police say

Vancouver police say they are investigating an attack that occurred Friday morning in Downtown Eastside as a homicide after the victim was found dead.

Vancouver Police Department (VPD) reported that they responded to a 23-year-old man in medical distress near Main and East Hastings at approximately 1:30 a.m. Friday morning.

The man was taken to hospital but later died, police said in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing, but the VPD said they believe the suspect and victim knew each other. No arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon.
