Weather in Regina: Parts of southern Sask. will see temperatures drop to 0 degrees.

Multiple records were broken in southern Saskatchewan on Thursday as temperatures reached or approached freezing in at least eight locations.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), temperatures in Coronach dropped to -0.4 °C, breaking the old record of 3.0 °C set in 1996.

The average minimum temperature in this area at this time of year is 11.4°C, ECCC said on its website.

Assiniboia was the second coldest area, with temperatures of 1.4 degrees Celsius, breaking the record of 5.5 degrees Celsius set in 1989.

Records were also broken at Elbow (1.9 C), Lucky Lake (1.5 C), Meadow Lake (2.4 C). Outlook (3.3 C). Rockglen (4.1 C) and Weyburn (2.8 C).

In Regina, temperatures dropped to 2.3 degrees Celsius on Thursday, just missing the record low of 0.0 degrees Celsius set in 1927.

On Thursday, the minimum temperature in Saskatoon was 2.0 degrees Celsius, nearly breaking the record of 1.7 degrees Celsius set in 1926.
