Hamilton unveils new partnership

Perhaps the pair should have heeded Hamilton’s final ‘be careful’ advice to avoid a collision; every near-collision felt like it was speeding up the countdown on a bomb timer to the explosion on lap 64.

The incident in Austria saw Hamilton move up two places to fourth, finishing in the top four for the third time in a row.

Could it now be time for the seven-time champion to end his long run without a race win, a period that dates back to the penultimate race of 2021?

Hamilton and Mercedes have formed a fruitful partnership, unrivalled in terms of title-winning returns. However, the Briton wants to leave with at least one more win before joining Ferrari until 2025.

Hamilton currently maintains a partnership with IWC Schaffhausen, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer.

The 39-year-old has teamed up with the company again, as he revealed in his latest Instagram post.

“Something is coming, watch out #Ad #PerformanceChronograph #TheReference,” Hamilton wrote on the social media site.

The British star has previously designed collections for IWC and often wears the watches in the paddock.

The collection he is referring to in his latest post appears to be the IWC Chronograph. It is described as ‘the reference’ for the type of watch used as a stopwatch in combination with a display watch.

The ‘Performance Chronograph’ is likely to refer to IWC’s Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 AMG, a nod to Mercedes and motorsport. It retails for a whopping £8,650.

Based on Hamilton’s reported base salary of £43,000,000 at Mercedesthen it would take him less than two hours to earn that, without the income from endorsements and advertisements like this for IWC!
