Man with machete who caused late night bus chaos arrested: Winnipeg police – Winnipeg

Winnipeg police say they have arrested a man Saturday morning after an incident on a bus involving a machete.

At 1am on Saturday, police were called to the area of ​​Grassie Boulevard and Lagimodiere Boulevard after a report of an assault on a bus.

According to police, a man and a teenage girl got on the bus and began to verbally fight. The two later got off the bus and the driver locked the doors.

The man then tried to get back on the bus, but was denied. Police say he then pulled out a large knife, later revealed to be a machete, and began damaging several bus windows.

Police say no one was injured and officers arrested the man and teenage girl and took them into custody.

A 19-year-old man is suspected of possession of a weapon and malice. The 16-year-old girl was detained under the Drunken Persons Arrest Act.
