Winnipeg man celebrates 100th birthday with Hercules flyover

A huge celebration for a huge birthday is planned for Wednesday in south Winnipeg, including a Royal Canadian Air Force flyover.

Richard Earl celebrates his 100th birthday on Wednesday and as part of the festivities a CC-130H Hercules from the 435 Transport and Rescue Squadron will fly over his home.

Earl was a radio operator on the CC-129 Douglas Dakota, a transport aircraft used by the 435th Transport and Rescue Squadron during World War II.

Earl also served in Burma and India and the RCAF said he has been in contact with the squadron again in recent years.

Prime Minister Wab Kinew and PC MLA Obby Khan are also expected to attend.

The flyover is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
