Canadiens select Tyler Thorpe 130th overall

After selecting strong defenseman Owen Protz at 102nd overall, the Canadiens were up again at the start of the fifth round. With their pick, the club selected towering winger Tyler Thorpe from the Vancouver Giants in the WHL.

At 6-foot-4 and 216 pounds, Thorpe is a big presence on the ice with an impressive shot to his name. Last year he scored 23 goals and 21 assists in 51 games for the Giants, with only 30 penalty minutes in total.

There won’t be long to wait for Montreal as they find themselves back on the clock in 134th place in the fifth round.
