Co-Founder and Director of “In His Image” Speaks to Women’s Aid Group

Regina Brooks, co-founder and director of “In His Image,” described the ministry to those gathered Tuesday, July 9, for the Cherokee District Women’s Missionary Auxiliary at Afton Grove Baptist Church.

“In His Image” was founded in 2013 and serves young women ages 12-18. The ministry is designed to teach self-awareness of who one is in Christ and to guide the young women through the difficult teenage years. The ministry’s mission is threefold:

– helping adolescent girls have a safe place to address difficult issues and learn who God says they are;

– teaching the young ladies leadership skills through community service; and

– empowering girls to know their self-worth

The ministry is based on Genesis 1:26: “…and God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…”

Vice President Nancy Washburn opened the meeting, in the absence of President Cindy Allen, followed by a special song by Patricia Johnson.

Following Brooks’ presentation, the auxiliary board proceeded to the next business: approving the minutes of the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report.

The host church provided a salad meal in the family center, while Cornerstone Baptist Church provided desserts.

The next meeting is scheduled for October 8 and will be hosted by Cornerstone Baptist Church.
