Suspect in teen’s murder found, arrested after Ontario jail break: Montreal police

A 16-year-old Montreal murder suspect who escaped from custody in Ontario has been found and arrested.

Montreal police announced Thursday that Makail Gas Mohamed was arrested Tuesday night in Kitchener by the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) after he fled from a youth centre near Pertersburg, Ontario on July 21.

He is linked to a murder that took place last February in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, on Montreal’s West Island, in which a 42-year-old man was shot dead in a shopping centre parking lot.

Gas Mohamed was arrested by SPVM officers on July 18 while already in custody in Kitchener for armed robbery.

He is currently awaiting trial for the alleged murder.
