U-Haul truck crashes into home in Rexdale: police

The driver of a U-Haul truck crashed into a home in Rexdale Thursday night, causing the building to collapse, police said.

Emergency services were called to the area of ​​Brookmere Road and Kipling Avenue just after 7pm to a report of a collision.

Police said two people, the driver of the U-Haul and a resident of the home, were taken to the hospital. Paramedics told CP24 that both suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Footage from the scene shows the U-Haul truck partially inside the home as emergency responders assess the damage.

According to Toronto police, the structure has collapsed.

The cause of the crash is currently unknown.

Police are asking motorists in the area to consider alternative routes.
