For over 35 years, Londoners have been unwinding over the Civic Holiday weekend by queuing for the annual London Ribfest.

The lunch break goers didn’t hesitate for a moment on the first day.

Steve Baldock, who works nearby, is a regular: “The ribs are always fantastic and I love trying all the different sauces they have.”

Local band Fat Boys has been involved with the festival for over 25 years.

Ricki Kefalidis said they travel all over the world, but it’s always nice to come home.

“We travel through Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick, but when we come home it’s like celebrating with our own community,” Kefalidis said.

Bubba Lou’s is back and hoping to replicate last year’s success.

“We won the People’s Choice Award in 2023 and we’re going to try to win it again,” said “Tickle,” one of the ribbers at Bubba Lou’s.

Boss Hog’s is also a firm favourite with the crowd and Mike Halfday said they put a lot of effort into keeping the fans happy.

“It’s all about the taste, the love and the God above us. We always use great ingredients and it shows,” Halfday said.

Organiser Doug Hillier said there was plenty more to do in Victoria Park besides the ribs.

“There will be over 20 bands on stage, two beer gardens, children’s rides and over 100 food and craft stalls throughout the park,” Hillier said.

The London Ribfest is underway now and ends on Monday.
