Alcaraz and Djokovic eliminated from National Bank Open in Montreal

Carlos Alcaraz will not participate in this year’s National Bank Open.

The world No. 3 in men’s tennis withdrew from the Canadian national tournament on Thursday due to fatigue.

The Roland Garros and Wimbledon winner will represent Spain at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where he reached the semi-finals.

Novak Djokovic, who is ranked number 2 in the world behind Italian Jannik Sinner, will also skip the NBO in Montreal. The Serb previously cited recovery from an injury and a busy schedule.

Tennis Canada also announced Thursday that Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo (No. 26) and Czech Republic’s Jiri Lehecka (No. 30) have also withdrawn.

Marcos Giron (No. 38) of the United States, Alexei Popyrin (No. 63) of Australia and Flavio Cobolli of Italy (No. 48) are now part of Saturday’s main draw.

The 2024 women’s tournament will be played in Toronto.
