Young speakers shine at SJHS presentation event

St John’s High School, Jamshedpur, on Thursday, organised its annual English Elocution and Speech Contest 2024, showcasing exceptional oratorical skills by students from all classes. The event was graced by Parvinder Bhatia, senior journalist, who lauded the performance of the students and highlighted the positive role of teachers in improving communication skills of students. The judges, Jayanti Sheshadri, vice-principal, Loyola School, and Vidya P. Battiwala, advisor, TQMS, praised the selection of pieces by the students and their execution. G. Francis, the school principal, congratulated both the students and teachers for their hard work and dedication. The school’s efforts to improve communication skills were clearly visible during the event, with even the presenters putting in a fantastic performance. Ashu Tiwary, principal of the school, played a major role in motivating the participants.

The results of the competition are as follows: In category A, the first prize went to Std-II for their piece “Catching Coconut”, the second prize went to Std-I for “My Doggy Ate My Essay” and the third prize went to Std-III for “The Star and The Wind”. In category B, Sidra Fatima (IV) won the first place, Palak Badhani (V) came second and Zikra Fatima (IV) came third. In category C, Nabiha Shahid (VII) won the first place, Saurav Kumar Paul (VII) came second and Piyush Kushwaha (VI) came third. In category D, Zareen Afreen (VIII) won the first place, Lucky Kumar (IX) came second and Mantasha (IX) came third. In category E, the first prize went to Pratishtha Sharma (X), the second to Ayesha Bushra (X) and the third to Azra Zaman Ali (X).
