What’s open and closed in Calgary on Heritage Day?

Below is a look at what’s open and closed in Calgary over the long Heritage Day weekend:

Public Transportation Calgary

Calgary Transit will operate the same service on Heritage Day (Monday, August 5) as it does on Sunday. The call center and customer service will be closed.

City Hall/Bow Valley College Closed to 39th Avenue

On Friday 2nd August the northbound platform at Victoria Park/Stampede Station will be closed from 20:00 until the end of service. The southbound platform at Victoria Park/Stampede Station will be open to both directions of travel during this time.

Beginning Saturday, August 3, the Red Line will be closed between City Hall/Bow Valley College and 39 Avenue stations until the early hours of Tuesday, August 6.

Shuttle buses will run between these stations and on Sunday, August 4, a separate Football Express shuttle will run between the Chinook and Banff Trail stations for the Stampeders game.

The CTrains will be fully operational again from Tuesday 6 August.

Parking in the Calgary Parking Authority parking lots

On Heritage Day, you won’t have to pay for on-street parking in ParkPlus zones. On weekends, the rates for all Calgary Parking Authority (CPA) parking garages and lots apply.

Regular rates apply to Calgary Zoo, Telus Spark, Heritage Park and the University District.

The City of Calgary Storage Yard is closed on Heritage Day.

Arenas and sports parks

Closed on Heritage Day. Normal opening hours on Saturday 3 Aug. and Sunday 4 Aug.

Football center

Closed on Heritage Day. Normal opening hours on Saturday 3 August and Sunday 4 August.

Recreation centers

Both Village Square Leisure Centre and Southland Leisure Centre are closed on Heritage Day.

The Village Square Leisure Centre is open on Saturday 3 August from 8am to 6pm (facilities and gym) and from 10am to 6pm (pool and steam room).

On Sunday 4th August, the Village Square Leisure Centre is open from 8am to 6pm (facilities and gym) and from 1pm to 6pm (pool and steam room).

The Southland Leisure Centre is open on Saturday 3 August from 7am to 6pm (facilities and gym) and from 1pm to 6pm (pool and steam room).

On Sunday 4th August, the Southland Leisure Centre will be open from 7am to 6pm (facilities and gym) and from 10am to 6pm (pool and steam room).

City of Calgary Arts Centres

The Wildflower Arts Centre and the North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre are closed on Heritage Day.

Landfills

All three landfills in Calgary are open on Heritage Day.

City of Calgary Golf Courses and Driving Rangers

Open as usual on Monument Day.
