‘We need to get the spark back’

After 25 years of marriage, the Beckhams are stronger than ever, with the devoted couple looking overjoyed on Instagram as they celebrated their milestone anniversary earlier this month. But despite their PDA, insiders have revealed there’s one aspect of their relationship they’d like to improve: keeping the spark alive behind closed doors.

Now that their four children — Brooklyn, 22, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and Harper, 13 — are getting older, the couple hopes to focus on themselves in this next chapter and rekindle the passion they had when they first met.

“Like any couple, it takes effort to keep things exciting – especially after a quarter of a century – and Vic promised David on their wedding day that he would spice things up and put the spark back into their marriage,” a source told Heat.

“While she and David have never had issues in the bedroom, it’s natural for the intensity to wane, especially with kids and hectic work schedules getting in the way. But now that they’re in the next phase of their lives with their kids growing up and leaving the nest, Vic wants to rekindle their romantic life and take things back to the early days when they couldn’t keep their hands off each other.”

It was Vic’s daring look that first caught David’s attention in 1996. When she wore a tight black leather outfit in the Spice Girl’s Say You’ll Be There video, it was love at first sight for the former footballer. David, who started dating Victoria a year later after they met in Manchester United’s Players’ Lounge, once said: “It’s my favourite song because it was the song that was on the TV when I was in my room with Gary Neville. It came on and I turned to Gary and said, ‘I’m going to marry the guy in that short black dress’.”

Since getting together, David, 49, and Victoria, 50, have often shared cheeky jokes about their sex life. When asked what they get up to in the sheets, Victoria previously admitted: “I sleep with David Beckham every night, so you know, there’d be something wrong if I said ‘sleep’,” before cheekily adding: “I usually don’t wear anything, but David bought me these little sets from Agent Provocateur.”

And while he raved about David’s infamous 2008 Emporio Armani underwear ad, Vic said: “I still have a really good sex life with David. He’s very proportionate. He’s got a huge one. You can see it in the ad. It’s all his. It’s like a tractor exhaust pipe!”

More recently, in 2022, Vic joked about her husband’s “sticky stuff” as he collected honey from his beehives at their Cotswolds home. And in 2020, David delivered his own saucy dig when he secretly filmed Victoria’s bum, writing on Instagram: “Looking good” alongside two peach emojis.

And now we hear Posh is doing everything he can to spice up their love life. “Apart from the obvious, Vic is making more time for intimacy, booking trips and being more spontaneous, which David obviously can’t complain about,” says our insider.

Vic even says she’s taking a leaf out of the book from Abbey Clancy and Amanda Holden, as both women are known for their racy confessions. Last week, Abbey, 38, revealed she took a miracle pill – which she called “female Viagra” – and that it saved her sex life with husband Peter Crouch.

Amanda, 53, who is married to music producer Chris Hughes, has also spoken openly about her bedroom antics over the years and is no stranger to posting racy snaps on social media. “Victoria was inspired by Abbey speaking out about the herbal supplement that helped her and Peter, and Amanda also being so open about her love life,” our source says.

“Having seen Amanda’s incredible rise to pin-up status in her 50s, Vic believes she can emulate Amanda’s success by talking more about her sex life – with her newfound libido not only spicing up her marriage but also helping her reclaim her sex symbol status.”
