Santa Fe fire truck en route to emergency involved in 3-vehicle crash, 1 person hospitalized

July 31 – One person was hospitalized Wednesday morning after a Santa Fe fire truck crashed on the city’s South Side.

The accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Cerrillos Road and Airport Road, city spokeswoman Regina Ruiz said.

Firefighters were on their way to an emergency call along with an ambulance when the crash, which involved two other vehicles, occurred, she said. Emergency responders at the scene took one person to the hospital, Ruiz said, but information including which vehicle the injured person was in or the severity of the injuries was not available.

Officers with the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office have taken over the investigation into the crash, a sheriff’s office spokeswoman confirmed.

Several lanes were closed at the intersection while authorities investigated. The investigation was completed around 1 p.m., city officials said in an alert.

The fire truck was still on the north side of the intersection around 10 a.m., with a light blue sedan next to it that appeared to have been involved in the crash.
