CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County Parks and Recreations cut the ribbon on Saturday, July 27, 2024, for the renovation of Ben Miller Park.

Ben Miller Park, located at 1099 West 40th Street, has undergone improvements to its outdoor basketball and tennis courts, and new pickleball courts, a dog park, a swing set and a walking path have been added.

Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp attended the meeting and was very pleased with the final outcome of the park.

“From McDonald Farm in Sale Creek to the world-class Walden’s Ridge Park on Signal Mountain, Ben Miller Park is the latest example of how the county is investing in recreational experiences that are unique to our neighborhoods. We’ve enhanced Ben Miller Park to better connect the surrounding communities and bring everyone from seniors to young families together. I’m grateful to Commissioner Joe Graham for making this project a priority and to our Parks Director, Matt Folz, for working with the City of Chattanooga to make it a reality,” Wamp said.

Also in attendance was Chattanooga City Mayor Tim Kelly. Kelly was also very pleased with the outcome and expressed his enthusiasm for the future use of this space.

“We can do great things in Chattanooga when we work together, and this is just the latest success story for County-City partnerships,” said Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly. “I want to thank Councilman Dotley, Commissioner Graham and all of our friends at the County for making this possible. City parks are critical to the quality of life in Chattanooga. Parks bring people together like few other things, to play, relax, exercise and host events, creating a stronger sense of community,” Kelly said.

Both mayors expressed their gratitude to county officials, such as Joe Graham and Raquetta Dotley, and to the county’s parks and recreation department for renovating this park.
