‘I salute you’ – Tyson Fury sends heartfelt message to Derek Chisora after gruelling win over Joe Joyce

Tyson Fury was overjoyed for his old buddy Derek Chisora.

‘Del Boy’ defeated Joe Joyce in ten rounds in a daring display at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday night.

Joyce was initially the bookies’ favorite, but Chisora defied expectations and defeated ‘The Juggernaut’ in the ninth round, eventually winning by unanimous decision with scorecards of 97-92, 96-94 and 96-94 in his favor.

Fury, who had fought Chisora three times and defeated him in the paid ranks, was among the first to congratulate the British icon on his surprise victory.

In a video uploaded to Instagram, Fury said: “What a legend! Old Derek Chisora!

“I’m so happy for him and so proud of him. He’s helped British boxing so much over the years.

“He has had so many fights and entertained us all on so many occasions.

“What a way to end, with a bang!

“God bless you Derek Chisora, I salute you, you are the man, God bless you, all the best, I love you brother, good luck.”

Many felt that Chisora’s win over Joyce was the perfect ending to his career.

However, both men confirmed that they would not be hanging up their gloves immediately.

“It’s not my last fight, I have two more,” Chisora said. “Now I’m going to Manchester at the end of the year.”

Joyce then took the microphone and said, “I’m not done yet. I’m still pretty fresh.”

It’s unclear what Joyce will do from here.

Last year, ‘The Juggernaut’ was on the verge of a world title challenge after defeating Joseph Parker in a fight for the WBO ‘interim’ title.

However, two consecutive defeats against Zhilei Zhang threw a spanner in the works – and he hasn’t looked the same since.

Joyce is now a member of the ‘who needs them’ club.
