2 officers injured after armed man enters Pickering police station

Two police officers were injured in a confrontation with a man who walked into a Pickering police station with a firearm on Saturday afternoon.


In a post on XAccording to Durham Regional Police, the man entered the West Division on Kingston Road at 4:30 p.m.

“An interaction occurred between the suspect and officers at the front desk, resulting in the man’s arrest,” police said in the release, adding that the suspect was later taken to hospital and the extent of his injuries is unknown.

According to police, two officers suffered minor injuries as a result of the interaction/

“Officers currently believe the firearm is an air rifle, but it still needs to be sent in for testing to confirm,” police said.

It is not known why the suspect entered the police station. The station was closed after the incident.

“The investigation is still ongoing and as soon as we are able to, we will release more information,” police said.
