Assault Peace Officer – Public Assistance: C24-165704

On July 18, 2024 at approximately 5:50 p.m., officers from the Winnipeg Police Service Central District General Patrol engaged in a struggle with civilians while parked in their marked police cruiser in a parking lot in the 300 block of Sherbrook Street.

During the unrelated public meeting, an adult male suspect approached the vehicle and threw a large metal object through the open passenger window, striking both officers in the upper body. Both officers sustained minor injuries for which they received medical attention after being taken to the hospital.

The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and identified the suspect as 44-year-old Waylon Joseph PAUL from WinnipegA warrant has been issued for PAUL for Assault on peace officer with weapon x 2 and failure to comply with conditions of release order x 2and researchers are asking for the public’s help in locating PAUL.

Indigenous male, 1.80 m, approximately 95 kg, taller build, with shorter dark hair

PAUL is a HIGH RISK OFFENDER, is considered dangerous, and should not be approached if you encounter him.
