Man charged in connection with fatal crash in Halifax County

HALIFAX COUNTY, Virginia. – Virginia State Police are investigating a crash in Halifax County that left a 78-year-old man dead.

Authorities told 10 News the crash happened on Saturday, July 20, shortly before 10 a.m., at the intersection of Route 501 and Dudley Road.

According to state police, Robert Hermanowski of Nathalie, Virginia, was driving a 1989 Chevrolet Silverado south when he was struck from behind by a man in a 2007 Ford Explorer.

Hermanowski was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the Explorer, 30-year-old Brandon LS Rogers, was not injured in the crash. Rogers has been charged with speeding for highway conditions.

According to VSP, the accident is still being investigated.
