Montreal police investigating death of man in Lachine shooting

Montreal police are investigating a murder after a man was killed in a shooting in the Lachine neighbourhood last night.

Officers received a report of gunfire around 11 p.m. Monday night, said Véronique Comtois, spokeswoman for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The shooting happened at the intersection of Saint-Pierre Avenue and Richmond Street, near Highway 20.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a 34-year-old man in critical condition with injuries to his upper body. He was subsequently taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Comptois, the victim was known to the SPVM.

His death is the eleventh murder this year in Montreal.
