Ottawa Weather: Tornado Warning Ends in Eastern Ontario

The weatherman issued a tornado warning for most of eastern Ontario, including Ottawa-Gatineau, on Monday morning. Strong winds up to 90 km/h, large hail and torrential rain are possible.

“A line or area of thunderstorms is expected to move eastward across eastern Ontario this afternoon. The primary threats with these thunderstorms are strong wind gusts and a tornado threat,” the forecast said.

“Be prepared for severe weather. Seek immediate cover if threatening weather appears,” the statement said.

Tornado warnings are issued when atmospheric conditions are favorable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes. Tornado warnings are issued when the threat is imminent.
