Victim fights for life as police close Seven Sisters station



Two women have been arrested after a man was stabbed on the London Underground during rush hour.

Police were called to Seven Sisters tube station at 8.48am this morning to a report of a ‘serious assault’.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a man who had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital with “life-threatening injuries.”

Two women have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent. One has also been arrested on suspicion of common assault.

The incident prompted a large response from emergency services and the area outside the station was quickly cordoned off to the public.

According to police, the Seven Sisters station is currently only accessible via one exit while the investigation is ongoing.

Someone who wished to remain anonymous told the Hackney Gazette she saw a man ‘grabbing himself on the chest and saying he had been stabbed’.

She said: ‘Multiple emergency services arrived on the scene within seconds and he was resuscitated at the tube exit nearest West Green Road. It was horrific.’

A British Transport Police spokesman said: ‘Officers were called to Seven Sisters tube station at 8.48am today (July 23) to a report of a serious assault.

‘Paramedics also arrived on the scene and a man was taken to hospital with injuries that appear to be stab wounds. His injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

‘Two women have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with intent. One has also been arrested on suspicion of simple assault. They remain in police custody and the investigation is ongoing.

The metro station will remain closed while officers investigate and passengers will notice an increased police presence in the area.

There was heavy traffic in the area earlier today and a bus lane was closed.

TfL said: ‘This station is only open for departures while police respond to an incident. Tickets will be accepted on London Buses via any reasonable route.’
