Shania Twain eats at Chuckwagon Café in Diamond Valley

The staff at a southern Alberta restaurant were delighted to meet country superstar Shania Twain when she and her husband recently dined with her.

Twain, known for songs such as “You’re Still the One,” “Man! I Feel like a Woman” and “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” dined at The Chuckwagon Café in Diamond Valley, Alta.

The city is located approximately 40 kilometres southwest of Calgary.

Speaking to CTV News, staff at the Chuckwagon Café said Twain and her husband, who are both vegetarian, ordered eggs benedict, which meant the beef-focused restaurant had to make some adjustments to its meals.

“I didn’t realize I was serving the beautiful Shania Twain until she ordered banana cream pie,” said waitress Susan Green.

She says she started by asking the couple where they were from.

“I think Switzerland was mentioned,” Green said. “There was some discussion about how beautiful the foothills are.”

“They were great people,” she added. “We want them to come back whenever they want.”

“I’ve served Shania Twain, Glenn Close, and Robin Wright, all at that table.”

Elizabeth Fogg, the waitress who seated the singer and her husband, says she didn’t recognize her at first.

“It was cool. It was really cool.”

A customer at the cafe said Tuesday that they missed Twain, but it’s still nice to know she’s been in town.

“It’s quite big. So good for the community,” they said.

“Shania Twain is amazing. Probably one of my favorite country singers of all time. She still looks great. Too bad I missed her.”

The singer then took a photo with staff, in which she can be seen wearing a beige New York Yankees baseball cap, red jacket, white shirt and ripped light blue jeans.

“Some of our lucky crew members got to meet one of their favorites yesterday when Canadian country music legend Shania Twain stopped by,” The Chuckwagon Café said when they shared the photo on Instagram on Tuesday.

Twain recently made headlines for a hilarious onstage misstep in which the 58-year-old accidentally sang into a drumstick instead of her microphone.

The singer shared a video of the mistake on Instagram with the caption, “I’m glad someone captured this moment.” She said it made her laugh “all over again.”

Twain was performing “(If You’re Not in It for Love) I’m Outta Here!” at the time.

At the end of this month she will leave for Ireland for a number of concerts and then she will leave for England.
