Extreme heat emergency plan activated in Saskatoon

Extreme heat emergency plan activated in Saskatoon

Saskatoon has activated its extreme heat emergency plan due to higher than normal temperatures and poor air quality.

The Saskatoon Emergency Management Organization said this will last from Monday through Thursday to support city residents.

Cooling stations, relief, health checks and water distribution are all part of the plan. Some partner organisations even have a misting tent, so people can cool down in another way.

A complete listing of cool-down stations and other services can be found on the City of Saskatoon website.

The city warned that extreme heat could be dangerous for older residents, residents with health problems, residents who live in places without air conditioning or where they cannot cool their homes.

Residents are asked to keep an eye on their neighbors, friends and family.
