Investigation sought into left turn signal at Perimeter Highway intersection

Investigation sought into left turn signal at Perimeter Highway intersection

The city wants to study an intersection on Perimeter Highway to determine if a left turn signal is needed.

According to the latest Executive Policy Committee agenda, the committee will discuss the placement of a left turn signal on St. Anne’s Road heading south and Perimeter Highway heading east.

It is recommended that Manitoba Transportation conduct a study to determine the need for the signal at the intersection, taking into account traffic flow, safety concerns, and potential benefits.

The Riel Community Committee wants the signal because of “significant traffic congestion during the summer months and peak hours,” the report said. The committee added that the southbound St. Mary’s Road and the eastbound Perimeter Highway have left-turn signals and see the same volume of traffic.

The issue will be discussed at the Executive Policy Committee meeting on July 9.
