House fire in Winnipeg caused by electrical fault: WFPS

A bungalow was extensively damaged after a fire in the early afternoon on Tuesday afternoon.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews arrived around 1 p.m. after being called to a house fire in the 1000 block of Simpson Avenue.

When they arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the single-family bungalow. The fire brigade then started to fight the fire from the home.

Twenty minutes later the fire was declared under control.

One person was examined at the scene, but did not have to be taken to hospital.

WFPS said the fire was accidental and caused by an electrical fault.

The city could not provide an estimate of the damage but said the home had significant water, smoke and fire damage.
