Char-Koosta News releases Sheehy’s full audio after comments allege manipulation

It’s been weeks since Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy’s stereotypical comments about Native Americans were leaked to the media. Now the full audio recordings are coming to light.

Sheehy has been silent on the matter – until last week there were no apologies or public statements of any kind. When asked on Fox News, he said the audio was chopped up to portray him in a bad light.

“Listen, they’re taking recordings from years ago, chopping them up and making them sound evil,” Sheehy told Fox News. “To make me sound like someone I’m not.”

In response to the claims, Char-Koosta News released the audio in full. The Official Publication of the Flathead Indian Reservation originally obtained and shared the audio clips.

“A great way to bond with all the Indians is to be there at 8 a.m. while they’re drunk and you’re playing tug-of-war together,” Sheehy said at an event in Shelby on Nov. 6, 2023 .

“You know a difficult audience; you want to go to the Crow Res. They let you know if they like you or not – Coors Light cans fly past your head. They respect that,” Sheehy said at an event in Hamilton on November 10, 2023.

NBC Montana received the audio files and had the opportunity to review them for themselves. To listen to the recordings in full, visit charkoosta.com.

The length of the audio ranges from just over 20 minutes to a recording of almost an hour, but we discovered that the original comments were shared with the media. The original commentaries can be found at the following times:

  • Shelby at 25:35
  • Helena at 40:27
  • Hamilton at 3:40 p.m
  • Superior at 47:49

We’ve reached out to Sheehy’s campaign several times for comment or a chance for an interview. We have not heard back to any of our requests.
